250 Hope Zones.  A World of HOPE.

But this milestone represents so much more than a number. It celebrates a vision God planted years ago: to see entire communities transformed through the combined power of FOOD, PLAY, and STORY.

That vision first took shape in Ecuador.

Along Ecuador’s coastline, KATW began developing what we now call HOPE ZONES, guided by a powerful question: What could happen if children and families experienced FOOD, PLAY, and STORY together—not as separate programs, but as a unified approach to lasting community transformation?

Together with our partners, we stepped out in faith, coming alongside local leaders and pastors to bring this vision to life. We began with STORY, introducing clubs where children discover God’s love and the truth of His Word. We then shared nutritious OneMeal FOOD packs to help meet families’ needs. Finally, we brought the gift of PLAY by building refurbished playgrounds—creating safe, joyful spaces where children could thrive and communities could gather.

We had seen the individual impact of these programs around the world. Now, we wanted to see what God would do when all three came together in one community.

And we began to see transformation. By God’s grace, as doors opened, we kept going—again and again!

What began in Ecuador has grown into 250 HOPE ZONES around the world, with the impact of this integrated approach beautifully affirmed by a recent independent research study linked HERE.

From one community to 250 HOPE ZONES—and counting!

During our celebratory week in Ecuador, five teams spread across five communities, building playgrounds and working hand in hand with local leaders and pastors to bring the combined impact of FOOD, PLAY, and STORY to even more children and families.

It was a powerful glimpse of what God is doing through this shared mission—not only in Ecuador, but in other countries including the Dominican Republic, Panama, the Philippines, South Sudan, and Uganda. Across these communities, we see the power of partnership, locally led ministry, and transformational discipleship to build lasting hope.

And here’s another marker worth celebrating: the playground built in our 250th HOPE ZONE was KATW’s 1,469th playground worldwide since our founding in 1994!

This 250th milestone belongs to all of us. It celebrates God’s faithfulness, the dedication of our global team and local leaders, and YOU—our incredible partners whose compassion and generosity make this work possible.
