When Faith Comes to Life Around the World

What happens when children are invited not just to hear God’s Word, but to discover what it means for their own lives?

Across cultures and communities, children are discovering that God is present in their fears, relationships, struggles, and joys. Leaders are discovering that when they move from simply teaching lessons to creating welcoming spaces for connection and discovery, children often engage in ways they never expected.

The testimonies that follow come from different places and circumstances, but they share a common thread: children being heard and discipled, faith becoming personal, and opportunities for transformation emerging in unexpected ways.

Powerful evidence of transformation comes not simply from what children can repeat, but from how they begin to see, understand, and engage with God—and live out what they discover.

CHILDREN DISCOVERING GOD FOR THEMSELVES

Cuba: Carlos, Age Four

When Carlos was asked what he learned from a Bible story about storms, his response was simple yet profound:

“When I am in the middle of a storm, God is there singing with me.”

USA: Amelia, Age Six

Amelia told her mother at bedtime that the Holy Spirit had spoken to her that morning. When her mother asked what happened, Amelia explained that her little sister had been bothering her, and she wanted to hit her. Then she heard God whisper:

“Is that how I would treat you?”

USA: Bradley, Age Nine

Bradley is autistic and mostly non-speaking, using only a few words with his mother. During a Sunday school lesson about the Christmas story, his class followed the familiar KIDStory rhythm of storytelling, retelling, and Head, Heart, and Hand questions.

That day, Bradley began sharing his thoughts about the story—and continued talking with his family on the ride home. His mother later shared that, with tears streaming down her face she felt so thankful for such a safe environment that her son could finally express what she had always known was inside him.

Congo: Three Best Friends

Peter, John, and Joshua are best friends. Peter was born with sickle cell disease and experienced severe, ongoing pain. The boys especially loved hearing and retelling Bible stories in their StoryClub. As they listened, they began to realize that Jesus performed miracles and that His followers also prayed and ministered to others.

After hearing these stories, John and Joshua approached Peter. They wanted to be like the disciples in the Bible, so they prayed for Peter to be healed.

Two years later, Peter continues to show no signs of sickle cell disease.

Three young friends. A faith-filled prayer. A powerful testimony of the boys’ desire to put what they were learning into practice.

LEADERS SEEING CHILDREN DIFFERENTLY

Congo: A Ministry Director’s Reflection

Following a KIDStory workshop, a ministry director shared a striking change in perspective among local pastors. Some were repenting of their attitudes toward children and acknowledging that their churches had neglected Sunday school because they had not understood the importance of children in the life of the church.

KIDStory was prompting leaders to reconsider not only how they disciple children, but also how they value and welcome them as members of the church community.

USA: A Leader’s Experience

One leader described seeing KIDStory bring the Bible to life for children, regardless of where they came from or what language they spoke.

At first, the children seemed like any other group—playful, distracted, and full of energy. But as the story unfolded, they became fully engaged, acting it out with joy and enthusiasm. Even the mothers sitting in the back were drawn in and began participating alongside their children.

The experience affirmed something powerful for this leader: God’s Word can cross language barriers, and storytelling can be a powerful way to share the gospel with children around the world.

FAITH EXTENDING INTO FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES

Serbia: A Father Brings Church Home

After attending a KIDStory workshop, one father reflected:

“I have never had any meaningful conversation with my father or with my children.”

He decided to gather his family and use the KIDStory@Home materials to tell them a Bible story. It was unfamiliar at first, but something new had begun.

“For the first time in the history of our family, I told them the Bible story. It was strange at first, but now I have brought the church home.”

His children excitedly shared the experience with their friends, and neighbors began asking to learn more. Before long, additional families in the immediate neighborhood, along with many in their church community, had turned their homes into StoryClubs.

He concluded with gratitude:

“Glory be to God for turning our home into a church.”

Pakistan: A Sunday School Teacher’s Transformation

Joseph had faithfully taught Sunday school for years, but he sensed something was missing. He often found himself lecturing while children listened politely, with little engagement.

At a KIDStory workshop, he discovered a different approach to discipleship: creating relational environments where children feel safe to share, explore who Jesus is, and discover how God’s Word connects with their lives.

He began incorporating storytelling, games, and art, shifting from lecturing to facilitating discovery. The change was immediate. Children became eager to attend, invited their friends, and began sharing what God was revealing to them.

Joseph discovered that discipleship is not simply about imparting information. It is about creating space for children to engage with God’s Word and grow in faith together.

ONE STORY AROUND THE WORLD

Around the word, testimonies continue to reveal different expressions of the same hope: children engaging with God’s Word, leaders rethinking how they disciple, and families discovering new ways to grow in faith together.

KIDStory doesn’t assume that every experience will look the same. Instead, it offers a relational approach that invites children to participate, reflect, share, and respond to God’s Word in ways that connect with their lives.

When children are welcomed, heard, and encouraged to explore their faith, they become more than listeners to God’s story. They begin to discover their place within it.

Children aren’t just the future of the Church. They are part of God’s story today.
