Our Process
Every playground holds a story—and at Kids Around the World, we’re helping those stories live on. Watch how retired playgrounds are being upcycled to bring joy and hope to children in communities around the world.
Every child deserves access to play—an essential component for their physical, emotional, and social growth.
With the help of playground manufacturers, landscape architects, Park & Recreation districts and others, KATW is able to acquire high-quality playgrounds that have significant play-life remaining. Once removed, they are brought to our warehouses where they are meticulously refurbished, promoting sustainability and providing communities around the world with revitalized playgrounds for their children to enjoy.
If you are interested in donating a playground to KATW, here are the qualifying criteria:
- Platforms condition – Are the platforms in good shape, with minimal cracking, peeling or rusting?
- Plastics condition – Are the slides, panels, roofs or climbers in good shape, without significant sun-fading or damage?
- Overall damage – Are there fewer than 3-4 components that are damaged or missing?
