Testimony from KATW President, Jim Rosene

“It was lunchtime at the feeding center just outside Puerto Cabeza, a small but sprawling city on the Caribbean side of Nicaragua but you won’t find any tourists here. It is an area that continues to struggle with the local economy. The further you venture from the center of this community the more challenging it is. The housing is simple. The roads are dust.  Unfortunately, the children are hungry. At the Feeding Center today the children arrive hours before the food was even ready. A large pot of rice is simmering on an open wood fire. As the children came we talked with them and sang songs. The children were laughing and enjoying the moments waiting…in fact, a Kids Around the World playground was in the back and more kids were there…playing! When the announcement was made that lunch was ready, everything stopped games, swings, laughing…it was time to eat.  All of a sudden the aches of hunger took over. The children washed their hands then came to the table and prayed… giving thanks for all they had…especially lunch. I am so blessed to be part of a ministry that shows our love and commitment to children….every day of the year.”
