A paddy field is a flooded parcel of land used for growing rice. The oceans of green stalks found in these paddy fields are more than a pretty landscape scene — they represent an ancient agricultural legacy that is now responsible for producing one of the world’s most important staple foods: rice. The people of Nepal count on the nutrients of rice daily, pointing to just how much this community valued the idea of building a school and a playground…they sacrificed two of their paddies to ensure their children have the brightest possible future!
