On New Year’s Day, the KATW Impact Haiti team experienced a very special day.   After celebrating our first playground dedication of the year, the team said their goodbyes and headed for a relaxing afternoon at the beach. Before the bus left the playground site, Julie Rearick, one of the team leaders, was asked if a young man on the team could be baptized. Sarah Lile explained that her son Jacob made the decision to follow Jesus but had never been baptized.  She said this first trip to Haiti and first mission trip with his mother and his sister, Alyssa, was so special he wanted to be baptized in Haiti. The three of them traveled with a team from the Calvary Community Church in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. One of the other team members from Calvary was Dan Martin. Dan is also a member of our Kids Around the World Board of Directors. Dan accepted the invitation and the honor of baptizing Jacob. As the team celebrated Jacob’s baptism another member of the team from the Calvary asked to be baptized. Also a follower of Jesus, Keely explained that she also wanted to be Baptized.  Once again, Dan had the honor of leading this public profession of faith. God’s presence was with us as we went “into the waters” together. The group gathered to pray and celebrated with Jacob and Keely’s decision. All the glorious truth of God’ mercy through Jesus Chris was on display that New Year’s afternoon in Haiti.
