For Santa Margarita Catholic High School’s staff and faculty “Day of Service” they decided to pack 50,000 meals to send hope and love to children elsewhere who are stricken with struggles that those of us simply cannot really comprehend. The theme of this service day was, “answering the call to love one another.” Rev. Mark Cruz, originally from the Philippines, held mass prior to the meal packing and told a personal story from his time in the Philippines. Due to a natural disaster, Rev Cruz experienced both a dire shortage of food and people making a great sacrifice in order to get food to those who were stranded without it. The staff and faculty were moved by this personal experience, and by the great impact, they learned that their service today will bring. Due to the meals they packed, 242 more children will be able to be fed for an entire school year!
