The building of this playground was a central focus for this small community and the kids could not stay away. The two pastors with the team recognized a child with a bit of an oddity in the way he walked. The little boy had damage to his feet from the freezing temperatures which most of the kids had but there was something very strange aside from this in the way he was walking. As they observed him they also realized that he didn’t associate with other kids his age. The pastors spoke to some of the community members to inquire about about the differences in this child. This little boy was only 5-years-old his mother died when he was an infant and his father is a serious alcoholic. The child has been neglected through his father’s addiction and has suffered developmentally due to the need to fend for himself in many ways. His home was in terrible condition, even for this community’s standards, and he was malnourished. The pastors immediately began working on a plan to help right this situation. His problem was recognized through watching the children play on the playground.
