I saw firsthand how the Body of Christ can work together to leave a lasting mark of love and joy for kids who have to survive extremely desperate living conditions. As these structures emerged from empty ground in a matter of days, all I could think about were the thousands of children who would experience fun, security, and newfound friendship with Jesus for years to come. I thought about the memories that would be created, and how I’ve heard children testify time and time again that “Jesus showed up” in powerful ways when they left their slums and barrios and came to camp.

The playgrounds installed at the Doutt’s ministry base near Managua and outside the Esteli dump at Casa de Vida were beautifully refurbished by our friends at Kids Around the World. Life Church Pennsylvania provided funds to purchase the playground and sent a building team. Feed The Hungry shipped the playground structures and equipment to our base in Nicaragua, which also provided workers and ground support.  The body of Christ worked together, transforming a patch of land into a place that will bring children and communities who face extreme poverty into contact with a Savior who loves them more than words can say.
