Hurricane Eta made landfall as a Category 4 hurricane – tearing through the port town of Puerto Cabezas, destroying much of the town and leaving thousands of families without a home. We have been partnering with an organization in this area, Verbo Christian Ministries led by Pastor Earl, over the past eight years to reach the people of Nicaragua. Through our OneMeal program, we regularly provide daily meals to 650+ kids at their community feeding center, however, the effects of the hurricane are expected to increase that number to 1,500 kids. Pastor Earl opened up his ministry compound as a place of refuge for 3000+ community members amid the storm. More than 600 of those people, plus the 140 children they regularly care for at their orphanage, remain under their care after losing everything to the storm. Many of you have been part of this effort, supporting and serving the community of Puerto Cabezas over the years. Now more than ever we need your help to support our brothers and sisters.

Kids Around the World is committed to increased support for Verbo Christian Ministries and the community of Puerto Cabezas while they rebuild and restore hope. We will first focus on helping them meet immediate needs for survival of FOOD and WATER within their compound and their larger community. We are raising $20,000 to provide for these basic needs. We have a sponsor that will add an additional 25% to your donation until we reach our $20,000 goal. Please donate what you are able.

This will be part of an ongoing effort. We will continue to assist with food provision for the next 3-6 months as they work to reestablish stable living conditions for those impacted most. Our goal is to mobilize an additional 271,000 meals to Nicaragua. Then follow up with an additional 1-2 containers over the next 3 months. We are seeking groups to PACK MEALS FOR NICARAGUA SAFELY AMID COVID.
