*Update 3/20/2020: Due to safety concerns, this trip has been postponed until further notice*
Dear Current/Potential Impact Team Volunteers,
I wanted to take a brief moment to talk about the conversation around every dinner table…the Coronavirus began taking the world by storm first via news outlets and social media and now seems to occupy most conversations. This is now our globally reality, as virtually every country in the world has or is in the process of closing their borders. This is no small deal and we have sought to respond in an appropriately and timely manner.
The Coronavirus has and will continue to have a significant effect on our ministry. We have taken the steps to postpone all Impact Teams scheduled from now through May 31, 2020. All volunteers on these teams, departing before May 31, should have received communication specific to them earlier this week. Impact Teams scheduled after May 31 will be evaluated as the situation unfolds.
Humankind has a real need, and it’s not to beat the Coronavirus (though we can all agree we’re looking forward to the day that is true). Humankind’s REAL need is Jesus. The REAL need is salvation. While we have been temporarily limited from traveling abroad to expand this effort, let’s not neglect coming alongside of those close by who have fears, pointing them to the true source of freedom from fear. As Paul reminded Timothy, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Tim 1:7)
Do not forget that while this element of our work had been reduced, around the globe children are still meeting in regular Story Clubs to hear and be transformed as their life story comes in contact with the story that God has been telling since the moment of creation.
Please join us in prayer. Prayer for these children. Pray for those that are and will be inflicted with this virus. Pray for those leading the way to combat the outbreak. Pray for those that are living in fear. Most importantly, pray that God will be glorified in all of these things.
Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have.
We are going back to Egypt! For the second year in a row, we will be working with a local ministry called Healing Grace. While on this trip you will be a part of a unique playground build at a local church (rooftop!), experience a couple of our 37 KIDStory Clubs in Egypt (where over 850 children attend daily), experience home visits, host a sports day and just be with kids! We will also be continuing our strategic vision for the next 5 years to reach more children for Christ in this beautiful country. Our final two days will be spent in Cairo touring the Giza pyramids built over 4,500 years ago and relaxing along the beautiful Mediterranean Coast.
Local Partner Info
Healing Grace is a dynamic ministry that along with sponsoring children they invest in families through AWANA Clubs, preschools, bringing clean water to Egypt, and many more things.
They currently sponsor over 1,800 children and university students in 30 different villages with the main focus being on children. All of the children we serve are from the poorest villages and have little hope for a different future. Sponsorship gives them three things: Jesus, Education & Healthcare.
Meet the Team Leader
Jeff Rosene here! I have had the privilege of working at Kids Around the World since 2006. Currently, I serve as our Executive Vice President which basically means I like to make things happen through our amazing team. My wife, Chelsea, and I have been married for 5 years and live in Oceanside, CA. We have two great kids Jack (3) and Everly (7 months). We love enjoying the California sunshine and frequent the zoo, beach, pool and various playgrounds on a regular basis!
Egypt is a place that is extremely close to my heart. I first traveled there a few years ago with my church, North Coast Calvary Chapel, and immediately felt a calling to get involved on a much deeper level. I currently serve as the “Rep” at our church for a ministry called Healing Grace over there. One of the best ways to get involved in missions to work side by side with partners. I love that I get the opportunity to serve KATW and my church in order to do that in Egypt. I look forward to leading this upcoming team to Egypt and many more into the future.
